Peter Liao: Theatrical Precision in Photographic Composition Was born in Taichung, Taiwan. He currently lives and works in Milan. Peter holds two master's degrees in architectural design. He graduated from the Department of Architecture at National Cheng Kung University (Master.Arch I, 2019) and obtained a Master's degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Politecnico di Milano (Equivalent to Master of Science, 2022). While studying in Milan, he received an honorary award from Giovanni Hänninen, professor of the Photography for Architecture course at the School of Architecture (2021), and joined his studio as a photography assistant after the course. At the same time, he worked as a photographer for European architecture magazines, independent publications, and fashion brands in EU, Peter is committed to documentary photography and endeavors to merge the characteristics of architecture and photography as mediums to convey underlying messages and comprehend the process of urban change through imagery. His graduation thesis at Politecnico di Milano, titled "Representations of Taipei's Cityscape during the Japanese Colonial Period: Exploring the Past through Archival Photographs," (Thesis supervisor: Prof. Paolo Scrivano) centered on understanding Taipei's urban modernization process by organizing and reselecting photographic archives. Starting in 2022, he collaborated with Leica Camera Taiwan to maintain a record of European architecture and landscapes. In May 2024, he held his solo photography exhibition titled "An Archive of All Things Relevant" at the Leica Gallery Taipei.
