Born in New Jersey, KAWS, whose real name is Brian Donnelly, currently resides and works in Brooklyn, New York. He pursued his education in illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York, earning his Bachelor's degree in 1996. Following his studies, he embarked on a career as an animator with Disney. As a street artist, KAWS is known for his direct interventions on street advertisements, reinterpreting their original imagery. In 1999, KAWS gained international recognition with the creation of the vinyl toy 'Companion,' produced in collaboration with the Japanese brands realmad Hectic and Bounty Hunter. Subsequently, various editions of 'Companion' have been featured in exhibitions at museums worldwide. KAWS is celebrated for his art products developed in partnership with well-known brands, characterized by his signature: ironic modifications of popular cartoon characters adorned with his distinctive XX pattern. The name KAWS is now synonymous with art and creativity, with a presence not only in New York but also in cities across the globe, including Tokyo, London, Paris, and numerous locations throughout Europe and Asia.
