Under the influence of his teacher Lin Fengmian, Shiy De-jinn’s “Nude” was contoured with simple outlines with a landscape background that was typical in the artist’s later years. When he was studying at Hangzhou National College of Art, Lin taught Shiy how to express an object with lines. It was rare for Shiy to work on nude paintings. This work was completed right after he visited his teacher in Hong Kong, so it can be seen as a work paying tribute to Lin Fengmian.
