Lan Chung-Hsuan, born 1991 in Taipei, Taiwan, MFA from Pratt Institute, New York. He remakes readymade images, historical documents, vintage and contemporary objects about war and disaster to explore the possibility of the absence of identity and the universality of life. Lan’s recent exhibitions include solo ‘αβγθ’ at AKI Gallery, double solo show ‘The Ocean is Romantic because it does not drown You to Death’ at YAO, Taichung, ‘Residual Heat’ at AKI Gallery Leipzig Prospect, Leipzig, Germany；group show ‘Covered Reality: Archival Orientation and Identity in Taiwanese Contemporary Photography’ at National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung, ‘Suwon International Art Festival’ in Suwon, South Korea. Recent curatorial projects include group show ‘IMAGRATION’ at Gallery COMMON, Tokyo, Japan, ‘PROVOKE - Opposing Centrism’ at Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei. "Origin - Rainbow" digitally processes photos taken after the Chernobyl nuclear explosion. The damaged parts of the buildings due to the explosion are hastily removed and replaced with a surreal and joyful gradient concentric rainbow.
