+ OVERVIEW

Pan Honghai, after he graduated from the oil painting department in Zhejiang Fine Arts Academy in 1967, he worked in the Zhejiang People's Fine Arts Publishing House, later he became Chief Editor. In 1986, he was the deputy director and professional painter at Zhejiang Art School. Ten years later in 1996, he received praise as "a professional who received special benefits from the council" and was appointed as the director at Zhejiang Art School. He had published "Pan Hong Year Oil Painting Collection" "Pan Honghai Collection" "Pan Honghai Oil Painting Collection" "Pan Honghai's Works of Oil Paintings" "Pan Honghai Ink Painting Collection - Fishes of Joy" "Pan Honghai Oil Painting Selection" He participated many major art work exhibitions for over 20 times worldwide, including the United States, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, France along with several national exhibitions, his works are collected by the Great Hall of the People, National Museum of Fine Arts, Zhejiang Museum of Natural History, art organizations in United States, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Canada, Singapore and private collectors.

Pan's realistic techniques are benefited from his Soviet educations. He has been through the most unstable periods in China art, but he never intends to pursue those in fashioned artistic languages, with his unique way to describe and to tell, he paved his own way to art. He always discusses using traditional western techniques to describe strong eastern native scenery and cultures in his oil paintings, which covers not only the essences of the subject, but also the manifestation, languishing stories turned to comely sentiments that pleased people, because his brightest, humblest ideas are discovered through the endless admires of the scenery in his eyes.

"Indonesian Scenery"was painted in 1994; it was his impressions drove him to paint the local sceneries after his surveying in Indonesia in 1993. The shapes and colors in the picture are presented delicately, and Pan successfully created a poet image in the China art scene, being called as the "son of the nature"is because his mind was naturally attracted by the nature, and drove him to walk into his beloved nature - and that is where he came from, where his works were created, where his life is given and grown!
