A WHITE JADE VASE AND COVER QIANLONG AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
Of compressed baluster form, encircled by bands and interlocking ruyi below the waisted neck in relief, the bottom worked with further keyfrets motifs with a protruding tip on the narrow sides, flanked by foliate handles in openwork, the domed cover incised with lappets surmounted by a compressed circular knob.

The present lot incorporated elements derived from Hindustan artworks. More specifically, a combination of both Hindustan and Chinese elements contribute to the rarity of the present lot. Compare with a vase of similar decorative style currently residing in the Palace Museum in Beijing, illustrated in Jarewares (second edition), Shanghai, Shanghai Scientific & Technical Publishers, 2008, p.308.
