+ OVERVIEW

Chuang Che is one of the most important contemporary Chinese abstract expressionists. His father was the late Chuang Yen, a calligrapher and the former deputy director of the National Palace Museum. His talent for art comes from a strong artistic family tradition. Chuang focuses on the expressionism in his works. As “Soaring Aspiration” demonstrates, the sense of “abstract” dominates the structure of the whole picture. The artist utilized the mixture of different tones precisely, dealing with the texture in a careful and meticulous way. Chuang interweaved the artistic conceptions from Eastern landscapes and Western abstract paintings on the same canvas, conveying to his viewers both the “taste” and “aesthetics” that are essential in art appreciation.
