Javier Calleja was born in Málaga, 1971 and completed bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Granada University in 2000. His work seems to be a simple aesthetic, but he creates surprising and humorous art-pieces through ingenious changes in everyday events. In addition to the comics, pop art and surrealism both influence the work of Javier Calleja; the artist invites the viewer to form part of playful scenes, and to interact by participating in his ironies or by reacting to the disproportionate sizes that evoke the worlds of Alice. He is currently active in Europe and Asia, also has held several solo exhibitions in major European cities.
