A SMALL GILT BRONZE ‘FIGURES’ BOWL MID-QING
Modeled with deep rounded sides rising from a straight foot, decorated on the exterior with two quatrefoil roundels enclosing a figure standing under the shade of the luscious pine as the sailor of a sampan emerges from rockworks on the quiet lake, while anther figure fishing on a sampan with a basket filled with the day’s catch amidst rockworks and gnarled pine trees, the other side decorated with three figures, a long bearded figure walking next to a child, both carrying firewood on their backs returning to their brick dwelling amidst a luscious pine garden, all reserved against diaper motifs on a bright gilt ground, the base with the four chacater Qianlong chenhan within a square cartouche.
