The depiction of a monkey with peaches rendered with green jade is symbolic of longevity. Compare with a jade group with a similar subject matter of monkey as the present lot in the Collection of the Asian art museum of San Francisco, illustrated in Later Chinese Jades – Ming dynasty to early twentieth century, San Francisco, pl.65, p.84.
