This lot is made of clear jadeite, carved into multiple layers on the surface. Upon the flattened baluster form, the overall exterior carved in high relief with egrets in a lotus pond, below a thin base with an oval shape. The motif on this vase is steeped in auspicious symbolism, as depictions of egrets (lu) in a lotus pond (lian) express the auspicious wish yilu lianke (a good wish to the examinees).
