In Chrysanthemum he combined Grass Writing of Chinese calligraphy with the chrysanthemums, creating a tight structure within the image, while the casual yet sophisticated expression shines through the painting. Bamboo and Daffodils shows his skills to express profound meaning with very limited brushworks; the bamboo stems and leaves have different shades of ink, showing different rhythms with clear, determined and powerful brushworks, making the still image also full of dynamics. The daffodils in the painting carry forward the spirit of Bada Shanren, exaggerated but very concise.
