+ OVERVIEW
Takashi Murakami, born in Tokyo, Japan, earned his Ph.D. from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1993. His artistic career is marked by its diversity and prolific output, ranging from coordinating collaborations with entities such as GEISAI, Roppongi Hills, Louis Vuitton, and Yuzu. Murakami has showcased his work through solo exhibitions at prestigious institutions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo, Fondation Cartier in Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, CA, the Brooklyn Museum in Brooklyn, NY, and the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany, among others. In September 2010, Murakami's art graced the Palace of Versailles in France, where he filled 15 rooms with his sculptures.
One of Murakami's notable works is 'Inochi,' which draws inspiration from Steven Spielberg's film 'A.I. Artificial Intelligence' (2001). This series comprises five robot-like sculptures with childlike faces, adorned in school uniforms, and possessing a charming yet peculiar appearance. They strike a balance between the familiar and the strange, providing us with a glimpse into a possible near future and prompting reflection on the intersection of technology and humanity. Similar to the original work, this series is limited to 200 editions, all produced under the direct supervision of the artist.
This Work is Accompanied by its Original Product Box.
