Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen: The Oneness of Life Through Natural Geometries
Architect and photographic artist Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen was born in 1976 and earned his degree in architecture from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2004. He currently lives and works in Copenhagen.
His photographic works reflect his deep engagement with phenomenology, deconstructing the human body, architecture, and nature to recompose everyday forms into luminous images that create intimate yet enigmatic juxtapositions. Bjerre-Poulsen has a profound interest in phenomenology—the study of human experience—and believes that our understanding of the world is inherently tied to bodily perception, symmetry, and scale.
Yet, at every level, from molecular structures to celestial bodies, the universe follows the same geometric principles. When viewed from this perspective, one can recognize that humanity, nature, and the built environment all belong to the same structural order. The way we perceive nature and our own physicality is mirrored in the artistic forms we create.
The piece ‘Bound 02’ encapsulates his vision of balance—fullness and restraint, order and complexity—achieving a soft minimalism imbued with a tactile visual quality.
