+ OVERVIEW

Yang Chihung is one of the most active abstract painters who live abroad. He had won the prize of being a remarkable Asian artist in the New York state, and his works were exhibited in premium art galleries in New York. The using of colors in his early works are strong and reflects the boldness of the painter, but after the beginning of the 90's, he changed his theme to the nature, all kinds of plants, his works during that period are full of eastern flavors and cultural profundities. Chen Danqing mentioned: "In the new century, his style gradually turns into elegant and refined, each stroke, choice of color, motivation and climax of each work intertwine as before but the skill to present them is more composed and tactful. The shading of colors and presented in the content all have been done with such clever calculation. His recent works are even more obvious with the phenomenon of which the true intention and the resilience of the painting lay beyond the surface. It was said that one is to look for talent in a young artist, maturity in a matured artist. Chihung has come a long way but his effort certainly has born fruit. His success is the result of his endeavor and expertise." (In Retrospect of Chihung Yang',Chihung Yang Paintings, Asia Art Center, Taipei, 2005, p.5)

"Reflection" was finished in 1998 and is one of Yang's favorite works, With vibrant colors and clever line structures, he abstracted plants of the nature, and clearly displayed the liveliness of the plants and the nature, and make viewers realize the emotions what Yang tried to express through vibrant colors and smooth lines, it's a painting that broadens our imaginations.
