South Korean artist Kim YoungJun regards moving images as completed paintings and continues his ceaseless contemplation of movement as an art form. He maintains his activity through his media art and paintings in Seoul. Kim has collaborated with various brands, including Bighit Entertainment, Naver, Shu Uemura, Amorepacific, Hyundai Department Store, and the National Museum of Korea. He has also produced a music video for the song ‘Fairy Tale,’ performed by musicians Kim Dong Ryul and IU. The artist's keen sensitivity to everyday scenes and his ability to create a subtle tension between space and objects are beautifully manifested in his gentle and peaceful paintings. In 'We love butter house,' Kim presents a vibrant composition of sandwiched cookies and a green apple embracing a house-shaped butter, humorously subverting the sense of scale. The stormy heart arrows evoke the overwhelming feeling of love at first sight, while the heart pattern emerging on the mushroom and the little white flower struck by an arrow hint at a budding romance on the side. Kim YoungJun reinterprets and unveils a new perspective and possibility for traditional Western still-life paintings, encompassing still lifes, landscapes, and states of mind.
