He graduated in 1982 from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Art's College of Oil Painting and now teaches there as a professor. His 1985 oil painting "Cold Dish" won the Outstanding Sichuan Young Artist Award and in the same year was selected for the national "Progressive Young Chinese Artists Art Exhibition". His 1994 artwork "Street Gossip" was selected for the 8th National Outstanding Artwork Exhibition where it received the Outstanding Artwork award and was put on display in the China National Museum of Fine Arts. In 2000 more than thirty of his works from the "Street Scenes Series" were invited for a personal exhibition in Singapore. His "Teahouse Series" in particular has made him well-known both locally and overseas.
