Born in Xian, Chiang Hsun followed his family to relocate to Taiwan from Fujian after the war and grew up in Taipei. He was graduated at History and Art Faculties of the Chinese Culture University of Taipei. Later in 1972, he pursued his studies at the Arts Faculty at the Université de Paris. He became the Editor-in-Chief for the Lion Art Monthly magazine and taught at the Chinese Culture University, Fu Jen Catholic University and Tung Hai University. He was very productive in writing fiction, art history and art critism articles. He has also organized exhibitions which has received good comments.
