HUA Chien-chiang 華建強
Taiwanese 1975
Born in Taipei in 1975, Hua Chien-chiang graduated with M.F.A. degree from Taipei National University of the Arts in 2005. He was granted by the Taiwan Fellowship Program of Asian Cultural Council in 2007 as artist-in-residence in Headland Center for the Arts, California. Hua is one of the very few painters in Taiwan who use mainly glue color as media to paint. He masters the technique of glue color painting to create fine and complex lines using rich and vivid colors. Apart from the classical ambiance of traditional glue color painting, Hua’s works reveal the lifestyle and fun of Taiwan’s young generation in his animation and manga style.
