Tomozawa Kotao, born in Bordeaux, France, in 1999, graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Tokyo University of the Arts. Tomozawa Kotao excels in depicting the texture of mucus. In her works, one can often see a layer of slime on the faces of portraits or dolls. The flowing form of organic material cleverly merges with portrait painting, capturing texture, translucent quality, and softness with skillful brushstrokes. She has received awards such as the Kume Keiichiro Prize in 2019 and the Ueno Award in 2021. Recent solo exhibitions include "SLIME" (Hong Kong, 2023), "INSPIRER" (Tokyo International Gallery, 2022), "SPIRALE" (Tokyo Parco Museum, 2022), and "Monochrome" (Tokyo Foam Contemporary, 2022).
