Chen Chao-pao was born in Changhua in 1948. He was graduated at the Faculty of Arts (Chinese Paintings Section) in the National Taiwan University of Arts. He was a well-known comics artist in a well-known magazine and excelled in producing modern ink and oil paintings. He relocated to France in 1984 and learnt the Western painting ideologies. He came back to Taiwan in 2002 and is currently teaching at the National Taiwan University of Arts.
