Hideyasu Moto 本秀康

Hideyasu Moto was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1969. He majored in design during university and has been engaged in freelance illustration since graduating. Starting from 1990, he became an active figure in the Japanese illustration scene. In July 1995, his exceptional creations were recognized with the Nagai Katsuichi Award, while comic works subsequently published in magazines, these formally establish him as a comic artist. Moto's distinctive surreal and pop worldview, along with his impressive character designs, captured the attention of collectors both in Japan and abroad. His comics incorporate numerous adorable elements, crafting a whimsical world through simple yet heartfelt strokes. His creative style is unique, merging toys, tokusatsu, counterculture, and music. The cartoonist has held solo exhibitions at notable venues in Japan including Asagaya Void, Hidari Zingaro, and Kaikai Kiki.
