Han Choong-Seok 韓忠錫
Korean 1981

Han Choong-Seok was born in 1981 in Busan, Korea. He received a B.F.A. degree from the Department of Western Arts, Silla University and a M.F.A. degree from the Department of Western Arts, Busan National University. Han Choong-Seok works on Gwangmokcheon, a thin, uncoated Korean cotton cloth that allows the colors to permeate. Famous for various animals and characters’ paintings, his works originate from the word relationship, which shows unspoken distances between the objects concerned. The animals he depicted have cute appearances and sidelong glares, which attracted the viewers’ attention. Furthermore, Han Choong-Seok spends a myriad of time on developing the animal characters’ background stories, which are portrayed in his works. Han Choong-Seok has hosted several solo exhibitions in Busan starting from 2008, and his solo exhibitions from 2015 to 2021 are all held at Gallery Woo. He also participated in the Shanghai Group Exhibition in 2016 and hosted his solo exhibition “Between Calmness and Passion” at Kaohsiung J.P. Art Center.
