CHIOU Bing-heng 邱秉恒
Taiwanese 1948
Born in Chiayi in 1948 and graduated from Department of Fine Arts, National Taiwan Normal University in 1972. He engaged in professional painting for more than 30 years, held over 20 personal exhibitions and 8 joint exhibitions. He won the Golden Duke Award by Chinese Painting Academy in 1987 and the Oil Painting Award of "National Award in Literature" in 2001. He usually uses an abstract conception to express concrete objects, expresses deep and figurative meanings with a highly abstract expression technique, and presents complete feelings with broken calligraphic styles. In doing so, he seeks unification from variation. His paintings are full of poetic prospects. They present a purely imaginary style when you appropriate them closely, and may have a concrete scene when you look them from a distance.
