BIJIJOO (Michale Todd Horne) 麥克-陶德.霍恩
American 1975
Bijoo (full name: Michael Todd Horne, nickname: B) was born in 1975 Atlanta, USA. He was interested in painting since childhood, and he also enjoyed writing, music producing, and filming. In addition, the artist also spent time in researching math, physics, computer science, and chemistry, later receiving a Ph.D. in biophysics at Portland State University. He is currently working on digital design, intellectual property, and innovative interfaces at Nike. The artist was often inspired by his daughter’s imagination and her love of monsters, so, combining with his academic research, his paintings are mostly about monstrous cartoons and exaggerations of life. Through traditional painting media and automatic drawing, Bijijoo was able to portray an experimental result: characters’ interactions frozen in a personal time and space. Starting from 2011, the artist hosted his first solo exhibition “The Presidential Ham” at Portland’s Basil Hallward Gallery, later hosting several exhibitions at Vins Gallery in Taipei and Villazan in Madrid. Bijijoo also participated in group exhibitions in Paris, Hong Kong, New York, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Antwerp.
