Kimiyo Mishima 三島喜美代
Japanese 1932

Kimiyo Mishima was born in Osaka in 1932 and currently resides and works in Osaka and Gifu City. During her childhood, Mishima witnessed the anxiety-inducing large-scale bombings that her city endured. After the war, she redirected her emotions towards the information overload brought about by the economic development, particularly through the incessant flow of advertising leaflets, newspapers, and magazines providing information on various aspects of life. Her works have been included in permanent collections of numerous institutions, including the Everson Museum of Art in New York, the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, and M+ in Hong Kong.
