Signed on the plate lower center Wou-ki in Chinese, Zao in French, and dated 86 Note on the reverse: Vingt ans de B.S.N, 1966-1986 BSN existe, BSN se developpera grace a instinct, imagination et le courage de tous - Juin 86 © Zao Wou-ki Edite par atelier de Segries 趙無極1920年生於北京，15歲考入杭州藝專，師承林風眠。1941年杭州藝專畢業以後，留校擔任助理教授直至1947年。翌年，趙無極移居巴黎並就讀於大茅舍藝術學院。受到歐洲抒情抽象派的薰陶，趙無極於1950年代與賈科梅蒂（Alberto Giacometti）及米羅（Joan Miró）等藝術家，還有美國畫廊商薩繆爾．庫茲為伍，發展出他的抽象畫風。趙無極曾舉辦多場國際展覽，包括代表法國參展1956年的匹茲堡卡內基研究所第40屆國際展及1960年的威尼斯雙年展，並在1994年在日本獲得高松宮殿下紀念世界文化獎。2002年獲選成為法國美術學院的成員之一，並在2006年獲法國總統頒發榮譽軍團勳章的大軍官勳位。
