A FAMILLE ROSE ‘DRAGON AND PHOENIX’ VASE GUANQXU SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN IRON-REED AND OF THE PERIOD (1875-1908)
Each of baluster form rising resting on a circular foot, the body enameled with a five-clawed dragon and phoenix in flight amidst stylized clouds above a band of swirling waves in brilliant enamels of red green, blue, magenta, and purpled, further encircled with a raised band separating the second register of blossoming flowers issuing from scroll works on the shoulder, the upper register of the neck with another five-clawed dragon in flight, the scaly body finely outlined in gilt against a ground of stylized clouds below a band of ruyi underneath the mouthrim, the base enameled with the six character reign mark.
